Pergola Guides/Series comparison

Lumen vs Meridian vs Atrium — Which Series Fits Your Project?

5 min read

The three series exist because Houston is not one market — inland Katy is engineered differently than coastal League City, and a pool-deck flagship is engineered differently than a single-bay back-patio cover. Here is the short version of how we pick.

Lumen — the entry tier

135×135 mm post, 180×130 mm beam, 175×40 mm blade, 0–90° louver rotation, single-bay, motorized with Tuya smart-app control. Built for inland Houston suburbs — Cypress, Katy outer, Pearland north — on standard residential patios up to roughly 6 m wide. Heavy-duty aluminum construction engineered for Gulf Coast conditions. 10-year structural warranty.

  • Best for: existing single-patio retrofit, builder spec on new construction, HOA-friendly modern pergola in suburban metro.
  • Not for: coastal Gulf Coast zones east of Hwy 146, multi-bay pool-deck covers, or projects needing full enclosure.

Meridian — the signature wide-span

150×150 mm post, 200–210 mm beam, 200×40 mm blade, 0–110° rotation, multi-bay capable, dual-cavity post separating low-voltage wiring from rainwater. Heavy-duty aluminum construction engineered for Gulf Coast conditions across the Houston metro. 15-year structural warranty. This is the right answer for most projects — pool decks, outdoor kitchens, master-planned community remodels in Katy, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Cypress, Memorial, River Oaks.

  • Best for: anything multi-bay, anything over 6 m bay width, pool decks, and metro-wide inland projects.
  • Not for: bare-minimum single-bay budgets (Lumen costs less) or coastal turnkey (Atrium is the right answer there).

Atrium — the flagship enclosable

150×150 mm post at 3.0 mm wall, 220×53 mm dual-wall insulated blade, 0–120° rotation, sealed gasket louvers, optional frameless sliding glass walls, T-316 stainless coastal hardware, coastal-grade construction east of Highway 146 with engineering documentation on request. 15-year structural warranty. This is a fully conditioned four-season outdoor room — the only honest spec for a coastal home or a high-end Memorial / River Oaks build.

  • Best for: coastal Gulf Coast projects, four-season conditioned outdoor rooms, hospitality and restaurant scope, custom-builder integration with architect drawings.
  • Not for: budget single-bay retrofits — the engineering tier is overkill for a 6 m residential patio.

Quick decision matrix

If your patio is under 6 m wide and inland — Lumen. If your patio is anything between 6 and 8 m, multi-bay, or anywhere in the metro — Meridian. If you are east of Highway 146 (coastal Gulf Coast zone), planning to enclose with glass walls, or building to architect drawings — Atrium.
